Strengthen your profession
NZVA members help shape the future of the veterinary profession. Through our advocacy work, we present a united voice, ensuring your interests are considered when it comes to matters relating to animals, humans and the environment.
The NZVA is your voice. We work closely with our members, committees, special interest branches and Member Advisory Group (MAG) to advocate for the veterinary profession on matters you care about. We make sure your voice is heard and your interests are considered.
To ensure your voice is heard by the right people, we work with government and industry partners to inform public debate, opinion, legislation, regulations and policy relating to animals, humans and the environment. Key areas where we have advocated for the veterinary profession include:
- the independent review of veterinary education in Australasia
- public confidence in veterinarians
- changes to animal welfare codes
- emergency response and disaster management
- bringing overseas veterinarians into the country during COVID-19
- exotic disease response
- live exports
Have your say on matters affecting recent graduates through our dedicated Recent Graduate Advisory Group. Work with the NZVA President to identify issues and opportunities relating to graduates, and make your voice heard on the NZVA Board through our New Graduate Observer.
