Join the largest community of veterinary professionals in New Zealand

The New Zealand Veterinary Association Te Pae Kīrehe (NZVA) is here to support you at every stage of your veterinary career – from your student days to retirement.

We’ve been supporting our members and the veterinary profession for nearly 100 years. Around 70% of registered veterinarians in Aotearoa New Zealand are members of the NZVA and we’d love to welcome you to our vibrant, supportive community.

Join over 3,000 veterinary professionals today

I recommend that veterinarians join the NZVA community for just that, to be part of the community of veterinarians across New Zealand from all corners of the profession... The NZVA facilitates interaction and engagement with your colleagues from Kaitaia to Bluff, pocket pets to zoo animals, clinical practice to industry and everything in between.

– Corey Regnerus-Kell

Have your say

Help steer the future of the veterinary profession. Make your voice heard by voting at meetings, volunteering for a Special Interest Branch of the NZVA, or running for a position on the NZVA Board.

Representation on committees and working groups

The NZVA represents the veterinary profession on a variety of committees and working groups. We make sure your voice is heard and your interests are considered.

Working with governing bodies

The NZVA takes the lead in lobbying government for direct change impacting the veterinary profession. We work with government and industry partners on your behalf to inform public debate, opinion, legislation, regulations and policy relating to animals, humans and the environment.

Communicating your value

We promote and celebrate veterinarians and their teams every chance we get. We showcase your stories and achievements through:

  • News and media outlets
  • Social media
  • Our print and digital publications
  • Speaking opportunities at a range of events
Working together as members of the NZVA facilitates collaboration of our veterinary community and some wonderful opportunities to make a positive difference to animals, people, our community and our environment.

I recommend that veterinarians join NZVA because it’s a great way to engage meaningfully across the whole profession, improving communication and understanding of where we are all at despite the vast array of roles we cover... It’s rewarding to be part of an organisation that unites us and represents us when and where it needs to.
