LAVT Professional Guidelines

The Large Animal Veterinary Technicians Professional Guidelines set out the professional conduct and ethical standards expected of Large Animal Veterinary Technicians (LAVTs). Every LAVT has a responsibility to apply these standards to the care of animals and tasks they perform.

The Guidelines serve to provide:

1. general guidance for professional conduct of LAVTs
2. a set of principles which LAVTs can apply to their decision making
3. a set of standards that clients and the public can expect LAVTs to abide by.
4. a set of standards of acceptable conduct that LAVTs can be assessed against.

The principles of these Guidelines are intended to be broad enough to define the expectations of LAVTs operating in any area of practice.
