Student events

Students attending Massey University’s School of Veterinary Science – Tāwharau Ora can attend free student events during their study.

  • VetLaunch: an opportunity for students in their second year of study to learn more about the NZVA and the path to becoming a veterinarian in Aotearoa New Zealand.
  • Crossroads: an event where third year veterinary students can meet veterinarians working in different fields and learn about the diverse career opportunities that await them after graduation.
  • Prelude to Practice: a careers expo to help fifth year veterinary students network with veterinarians, clinics, and industry partners as they head into their final year of study.

NZVA staff also attend various Massey-run events throughout the year, including graduation ceremonies, the VetMAP Noho Marae, and the three-day VetStart camp.

Online CPD tracking

Veterinarian and LAVT members can plan, track and share their CPD activity through our online MyCPD platform. The Veterinary Council of New Zealand (VCNZ) recommends veterinarians spend at least 20 hours on CPD activities each year. MyCPD makes it easy to track your progress, share your plan with supervisors and mentors, and download your records (perfect for when VCNZ asks for your record, or when you’re applying for jobs!).
