World Veterinary Day 2023
Published on 17 March 2023.
To help celebrate our diverse workforce, the New Zealand Veterinary Association (NZVA) is looking to share stories and videos from a range of veterinary professionals. We know veterinarians in Aotearoa come from a range of backgrounds and we want to showcase that diversity.
This aligns with World Veterinary Day which will take place on 29 April 2023 with the theme of promoting diversity, equity and inclusiveness in the veterinary profession.
The 2023 theme is about celebrating efforts from veterinarians, veterinary associations and others to advocate for fairness and equity. World Veterinary Association (WVA) and HealthforAnimals chose the theme as a way to help remove barriers and improve inclusiveness through diversity, equity and inclusion policies and practices.
Promoting the diversity in our profession links back to:
- our vision of a vibrant and diverse veterinary profession
- our values of inclusivity and promoting collegiality
- our member priorities, including workforce sustainability, member wellbeing, and support for and engagement with recent graduates and veterinarians returning to the workforce.
We are looking for short videos or stories from veterinary professionals from different backgrounds and industries. Don't worry if you don't have much experience in front of the camera! We can provide tips on filming videos on your phone, as well as suggestions for video topics.
