The New Zealand Veterinary Association Te Pae Kīrehe (NZVA) Board is pleased to announce further appointments to the Board.
Will Halliday has been appointed to the role of Member Advisory Group (MAG) Chair and Board Member. Will has been around sheep and beef cattle all his life. Born and raised on a Hawke’s Bay sheep and beef farm, he graduated as an adult student in 2010. Will has worked in production animal practice in Gisborne, as a veterinary supervisor at the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI), and as Senior Adviser for Biosecurity and Animal Welfare at Beef + Lamb New Zealand since 2018.
Will says, "It’s a real honour to be the MAG representative on the NZVA Board. I’m looking forward to contributing to the positive relationship between the NZVA and its members."
Jenny Jang has been appointed into the Recent Graduate Observer role. Since graduating from Massey University in 2023, Jenny has been working as a veterinarian in the Waikato area. Jenny was the recipient of two awards from the Veterinary Council of New Zealand (VCNZ): the Professional Competency Award and the Highest Performing Fifth-year Student in Veterinary Professional Studies. Before becoming a veterinarian, Jenny worked as a pharmacist for over six years.
Jenny notes, "I am incredibly honoured and passionate about carrying on the outstanding groundwork that Ella Poole-Crowe has already laid down in her last term as the NZVA Recent Graduate Observer. Career satisfaction and fostering our recent graduate’s mental wellbeing is essential to cultivate a long-lasting fulfilled career in the veterinary profession in New Zealand, and I am eager to work towards these goals."
Will and Jenny will commence their roles on the Board after the NZVA Annual General Meeting (AGM) which is being held on 20 June 2024.
