New OSD form for cats and dogs to Australia
Published on 2 February 2023
The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) has updated its Owner Statutory Declaration (OSD) Form to support the certification of cats and dogs to Australia. Although the form is dated 1 March 2023, it is effective from today (2 February 2023) and all new movements must use this version of the OSD Form.
This update has been made in preparation for the implementation of the revised export certificate and residency requirements effective from 1 March 2023 for cats and dogs to Australia.
You can use the old “PETANI.AU 01 October 2022” version if:
- you have an OSD form that was completed before 1 March 2023 and the animal is due to be certified and exported before 1 March 2023 and the animal fulfils the 90 day residency.
- you have an OSD form that has been completed before 1 March 2023, and the animal is due to be certified and exported after 01 March 2023 and the OSD is completed within the 90 day signing period, and the animal meets the relevant residency (eg NZ born or since import from Australia).
All other situations must use the new OSD “AUPET9 01 March 2023” version and, in the case of imported animals from countries other than Australia, complete 180 days residency. This includes but is not limited to:
- Animals who were imported into New Zealand between 2 September and 1 December 2022 and who are not able to be exported to Australia before 28 February 2023.
- All animals from 2 February 2023.
The export certificates will be recalled and reissued in the coming weeks to ensure you have the new certificate available for all certifications on 1 March 2023.
