An opportunity has become available for a Product Support and Pharmacovigilance Associate at Zoetis. This full-time position can be undertaken at the Zoetis’ office in Auckland or be based remotely. The successful candidate will become part of the Australia and New Zealand Product support and pharmacovigilance team and will report to the Australian regulatory affairs director.
The Product Support aspect of this role is responsible for providing technical support for Zoetis’ veterinary medicine and diagnostic ranges to veterinarians, resellers and end users, responding to phone queries received on Zoetis’ 0800, line as well as email and written enquiries.
The Pharmacovigilance aspect of this role involves the reporting of adverse events received in Australia and New Zealand in line with company, APVMA and ACVM requirements. Your workload in each of these aspects of the role will vary depending on company requirements.
To be successful in this role you will need excellent customer service, knowledge of animal physiology and disease, competence in problem solving, empathy, along with administrative and organisational skills.
Key accountabilities include:
Product Support:
- Receiving and responding to customer enquiries received via Zoetis’ 0800 Product Support line.
- Liaising as necessary with Zoetis Veterinary Operations where specialist veterinary knowledge is required.
- Entering details of product quality reports into Zoetis’ global database
- Maintaining up to date knowledge of Zoetis range of products
Pharmacovigilance:
- Investigating and reporting adverse events, including:
- Collecting veterinary case notes to assist reporting of adverse events.
- Summarising the case narrative in a concise and clear manner
- Understanding Zoetis’ product labels and potential pharmacological effects of certain product types, to enable an appropriate causality assessment.
- Understanding of clinical sign coding in reports including those signs that are serious.
- Submitting all cases including serious cases according to APVMA, ACVM and company timelines
- Active participation in departmental team meetings, effectively communicating the status of current cases.
Personal attributes required include:
- A high level of interpersonal skills, including good listening skills and empathy that can accommodate telephone communications with both external customers and internal stakeholders, and representatives of the regulatory agencies.
- Demonstrable administrative and organisational skills
- A meticulous and informed approach to collection, collation and communication of information received from customers.
- Familiarity with the PV Works pharmacovigilance reporting system is an advantage.
Education and experience:
- A tertiary qualification in biological science or a related discipline is desirable as is a background in an animal health field such as veterinary practice as a veterinarian, veterinary nurse or technician.
- Ability to use computer software packages with the willingness to learn additional software packages, specific to company needs as required.
- Prior experience with pharmacovigilance requirements for veterinary medicines is highly desirable.
