At Rangiora Veterinary Centre (RVC), our mission is simple – to be the centre of veterinary excellence and innovation. We live by our values of excellence, empathy, respect, teamwork, community, and innovation – and we’re looking for veterinarians who feel the same.

About RVC:

  • Established in the 1960’s.
  • Located on the outskirts of Rangiora, 25 minutes north of Christchurch, New Zealand.
  • A 24/7, 365 day a year first opinion and referral practice receiving patients from all over the South Island.
  • State-of-the-art facilities in our purpose-built clinic (opened 2013) with three custom-designed theatres – including one dedicated to orthopaedics.
  • NZVA BestPractice and Hospital Standards Accredited
  • ISFM Gold Standard Cat Friendly Clinic
  • Full in-house lab, ultrasound, digital DR X-ray, endoscopy, and our Canon 78cm bore 128-slice CT scanner.
  • A VTS anaesthesia technician and physiotherapy/rehabilitation team onsite.

The opportunity:

We are looking for two motivated and enthusiastic veterinarians to join our companion animal team:

  1. Permanent general practice companion animal veterinarian:
  • Full-time role (with flexibility in hours)
  • 1 in 4 Saturdays, no after-hours weekday work
  • Varied GP caseload in a supportive and collaborative team
  1. Emergency & critical care veterinarian:
  • Average 30-hour working week
  • Weekend shifts required as part of the ECC roster
  • Focus on emergency and hospital caseloads, with access to advanced facilities and a skilled support team

What’s on offer (for both roles):

  • Competitive remuneration, reflective of your skills and experience
  • Supportive, collegial, and fun team culture
  • Generous CPD leave and allowance
  • $500 annual wellbeing allowance (pro-rata)
  • Visa, VCNZ registration, and tailored relocation support available
  • Work-life balance actively prioritised

The successful applicant will also be onboarded to the Lincoln Leading Edge Program, giving a qualification in veterinary non-clinical skills.

Why choose Rangiora?

Living here means the best of both worlds – a thriving rural community with the convenience of Christchurch close by.

  • Adventure – skiing, mountain biking, hiking, fishing, boating, and horse riding are all within an hour.
  • Lifestyle – vibrant arts, culture, restaurants, wineries, and craft breweries.
  • Family-friendly – excellent schools, new swimming complex, sports clubs, and a safe, welcoming community.
