Tararua Vets is a vibrant clinic located in Pahiatua. We are looking for an enthusiastic veterinarian to drive the dairy side of our business. With an average herd size of 350 cows there is a lot of opportunity to directly engage with the owners and influence change. As part of a mixed practice, we can also offer opportunities to engage with sheep and beef farmers and companion animal clients if desired. We are also an integral part of the rural community with our farm animal services.
As part of the Totally Vets Group there are a lot of opportunities to engage and collaborate with other keen dairy veterinarians to grow services to clients. Our company has two nutritionists/consultants to support our clients and veterinarians in getting the best results possible.
In our clinic you will be part of a strong ten veterinarian/two technician team, with on-call techs for the busy periods. We pride ourselves on being a fun place to work with a collaborative team culture.
This role will require you to be part of our afterhours roster (1:7 outside spring), and while we would prefer a full-time veterinarian, we are open to a flexible work hours arrangement.
We host students twice a year as part of the Massey Externship programme so an interest in teaching would be beneficial.
Ideally, we are looking for people who have the following qualities:
- Experience with dairy farm systems
- Commitment to client service with a professional attitude
- Confidence to work independently in a busy practice
- Good time management and proven organisational skills
- Displays great interpersonal skills to build relationships
- Willingness to participate in the afterhours roster
