Are you an experienced equine veterinarian with a passion for leadership, growth, and exceptional client service?
Join Franklin Vets and take the reins of our expanding Equine Division. We’re seeking a motivated professional who can blend hands-on clinical expertise (around 80% of your time) with strategic, commercial, and team leadership (about 20%) to elevate our services and our reputation as a trusted provider of equine care.
About our Equine team:
Based in our BESTPRACTICE-accredited Pukekohe clinic, our equine team benefits from a well-equipped facility for both on-farm and on-site diagnostics, including portable video endoscopes, x-ray, and ultrasound machines. This setup allows owners to conveniently bring their horses for efficient, high-quality care. We also have several clients who have excellent facilities, enabling us to work seamlessly wherever needed. From preventative and routine healthcare to dentistry and reproduction, our goal is to ensure the optimal health and peak performance of our clients’ horses.
What you'll do:
- Drive growth: Identify new opportunities, enhance our service offerings, and build strong industry partnerships to elevate our profile and expand our client base.
- Lead a high-performing team: Mentor and develop a committed group of equine veterinarians, fostering a supportive and growth-focused environment.
- Strategic project work: Shape the long-term vision of our Equine Division and contribute to business objectives, including the development of a permanent equine facility.
- Deliver clinical excellence: Provide outstanding veterinary care to sport, performance, pleasure, and commercial equine clients.
What we're looking for:
- Proven experience – a minimum of 5 years’ experience as an equine veterinarian with solid exposure to racing, stud work, sport and pleasure horse care.
- Natural leader - experienced in managing and mentoring veterinary teams.
- Strategic mindset – you see the bigger picture and can drive long term, sustainable growth.
- Commercially savvy - skilled at business development, client relationship management, and shaping profitable services.
- Strong communicator – able to build credibility and rapport within the racing and equestrian communities.
